My Story
I'm taking on the full Beyond The Ultimate Global Race Series in aid of Global's Make Some Noise.
The Global Race Series is made up of four iconic extreme trail running events designed to test the resilience and endurance of any runner in the most hostile environments on Earth.
Having completed the Jungle Ultra in June 2024 as my first multi-stage race, I'm going back to race the series.
The Jungle Ultra is a gruelling 230km 5-day self-sufficient ultra-marathon, set deep in the hostile but magnificent Manu National Park in the Amazon Rainforest. As you journey, ankle-deep in mud, from Cloud Forest to the Amazon basin, you will run, fight and scramble your way through suffocating undergrowth, sharp climbs and river crossing after river crossing, and 4000m of ascent.
My next race is the Desert Ultra in the Namib Desert, Namibia. It’s one of the oldest and most hostile deserts in the world.
Desert running is a real challenge, with sweltering heat of over 50 degrees during the day, temperatures drop to freezing at night. As you survive the heat and the dust, you will be surrounded on all sides by sand dunes and baking scrubland.
The Spitksoppe Mountains loom as you disappear as a dot into the shimmering heat haze on the horizon.
The Ice Ultra is a race across the Arctic Circle – Europe’s last remaining wilderness. And the Mountain Ultra climbs one of the largest and least explored mountain ranges in the world – The Tian Shan Mountains in Kyrgyzstan.
You can read about the race here, and you'll be able to GPS track me live and get updates via the BTU posts when I'm there:

Global's Make Some Noise give a voice to small charities
https://www.makesomenoise.com/
Your money helps us to support 100 brilliant small charities in local communities across the UK.
Charities delivering food banks, mental health programmes, domestic violence helplines, carer support, community projects and other vital life support programmes.
Small charities are on your doorstep, but they risk going unnoticed until they are needed.
The past few years have shown us that we could all be one step away from our lives suddenly changing. The power of coming together to help one another has also become increasingly important.
Over the past year, our funding has been spread across key areas of need in communities like yours, including:
- Food banks and charities providing basic essentials.
- Mental health and befriending helplines.
- Grief counselling for those who have lost loved ones.
- Safety and shelter for those who have experienced domestic violence or homelessness.
- Care services for people living with physical health conditions
- Support for frontline and unpaid carers.
Small charities have been adapting to the changing needs of the communities they support.
